Danang is a city with history; originally Danang was known as Cua Han (‘Mouth of the Han River’); when the French took control they renamed it Tourane, a rough transliteration of Cua Han. Then it acquired the title Thai Phien, and finally Danang. The city is situated on a peninsula of land where the Han River flows into the South China Sea. An important port from French times, Danang gained worldwide fame when 2 US Marine battalions landed here in March 1965 to secure the airfield. They were the first of a great many more who would land on the beaches and airfields of South Vietnam.
This afternoon the group will visit the well known Cham Museum, Marble Mountain, Linh Ung Pagoda, Han Market .
